software on Windows 2000 unattended (ie silently) ??

Isn't that a MSI file (Windows Installer)? You should be able to use a
/qb or /qn for silent install. Check out this site for more info and you
can find silent install options for many different installer types under
Unattended XP CD-Applications at the bottom:
