Windows hangs on mup.sys when going into safe mode

I recently tried to boot into Safe Mode so I could run a virus scan
and spy sweep and it hangs on mup.sys. I havent tried to go into Safe
Mode for a while and I am not sure when/why this has happend. If
anyone has any suggestion please reply so I can try to remedy this
situation. spj
