My system is giving me two beeps while running (sounds like boop
beep), and I need to find out what this means. When I look at the Asus
Quick Setup Guide under Troubleshooting, all I can find is "High
frequency beeps when system is working means CPU is overheated".
However the Asus PC Probe utility says the CPU temp is 45C/113F which is
well below the default threshhold values of approx. 70C/155F. The MB is
34C/93F which again is well below the default threshhold. So I'm
wondering what ELSE this could mean. When I look at Device Manager,
everything appears normal, the only yellow flag is for my Microtek C6
parallel port scanner, which has always showed up that way for the 4
years I've had it.
For whatever it's worth, I've got an ATI Saphire Radeon 9200SE video
card, a WD 10000 RPM SATA boot drive C:, a Seagate SATA 7200 rpm D:
drive, a 3.2 GHz P4 Prescott CPU, 1 GB RAM, with Windows XP SP2 Home. I
get these two beep tones at about half hour intervals, so this thing is
trying to tell me SOMETHING - I just don't know WHAT! If anyone out
there can tell me what these beep codes mean, I'd sure appreciate it. TIA

It sounds like the Asus Probe software, are you using this utility? If
so the thresholds may be set too low. I used to have this software but
found it very buggy. Sometime it would indicate that my cpu was at 180
degrees celcius. And I would get the same beeping sound, also if the
software is trying to pick up a fan or tem that isn't connected it will
beep as well.
Hope this helps.
