Okay, so I know enough to get by but I have what sounds to
me to be a stupid question. Win XP says I need 300 MHz
and 1.5 GB. I have a Dell that came with preinstalled Win
ME with 133 MHz and 1 GB. It appears obvious that I need
more memory before I can utilize Win XP? Can somebody
confirm this for this beginner computer dummy?!

Melonie;
You do not state how much memory you have.
you seem to be saying you have a 1gb hard drive and 133mhz processor
(with ME???)

Minimum Microsoft recommended
233mhz 300mhz
1.5gb ------
64 mb RAM 128mb RAM

Even the Microsoft Recommended are < half what most would suggest.

You may be better off buying a new computer.

A 133 MHz Processor is not adequate for Windows XP,
regardless of the amount of RAM installed.
You would be better off installing Windows 98 or
Windows 2000 on that old computer.

Actually, I don't think any of that information is what she is meaning
to portray. I am wondering if she has 1 GB of PC133. What is the model
of this computer?

When Windows ME came out, hard drives were already well past the 1 gig mark!

Yeah, and it came out before it was even finished. Worst OS in MS
history and they'll agree with that statement. They did a decent job
cleaning it up, but they left a beta version of Media Player in the RTM
for goodness sakes :)

And I know they were well past 1 GB. I think this whole post is just
confusing. It reminds me of my dad who keeps saying he just got a new
40 Gigahertz Harddrive and a 32 MB Network card.
