I've just finished my first PC.

But there are some problems that I'm not able to fix...

so I seek for your help....

1) When I'm watching a movie files on Windows Media Player, it
frequently mutes for a seconds and comes back...which is really
annoying. I don't know if it's sound driver problem or what...

2) When I boot it up, Windows XP does not detect my mouse 2 out of 5
times. However if I pull the mouse cable out from the back of the PC
and put it back in...it works again...which is REALLY ANNOYING ALSO!!!

Any idea what's wrong with my system?

Please help! I would really appreciate it!

Here's my config just in case...

ASUS P4C-800E Deluxe
P4 2.8
(2) WD 36GB Rapter in Raid 0
(2) WD 200GB SATA Drive
Corsair XMS TWINX 512MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
ATI Radeon 9800PRO 128MB

One suggestion I have is to remove the SoundBlaster card and
see if that fixes your problem. If it does try it in a different slot.
Also you could post your problem on alt.comp.mainboards.asus

What does Device Manager report? What is found in the
system (event) logs? What do the comprehensive diagnostics
for each component (provided free by each component
manufacturer) report? Don't try fixing anything until
important information is first obtained and analyzed.
