I have a fairly complicated workbook in Excel on my
desktop. When I try to take it to my pocket PC, it
unformats many of my changes (such as merged cells,
etc.). How do I get it to transfer to the pocket PC with
out it changing my formatting?

Using Excel XP on the desktop.

Even if you will copy it to the PDA in a way it does not get reformatted you
Pocket Excel won't be able to work with this file. Pocket Excel is very
limited.

If you want to work with such advanced workbooks then you have to buy
SoftMaker PlanMaker or use SpreadCE.

Pocket Excel doesn't support all the features of the desktop version, and
copying the desktop file to your ppc as is won't help- pocket excel won't be
able to open it.

Look at the alternative spreadsheet programs, but it may be a pain listing
all the features you are using then checking them off what's available in
another program. Some have trials available, why not give those that do a
go?
The program prices do vary quite a bit so check that out if it's a concern.

SpreadCE has a trial,

Then there is Planmaker, Smartsheet and PTab, check if they have trials.
(all available at Handango I think
www.handango.com)

Spreadce has a free version which is the
trial (trial will not expire if you do not
register) with pop-ups, but it works great
for me.
