q-fan on A7N8X-dlx 2.0

Simply put, does q-fan work? i read that for this board you have to use the
pwr_fan connector for q-fan to actually alter the fan speed, but that
connection, nor the cha_fan or cpu_fan connector will vary the fan speed. if
it makes a difference i am running a 92mm fan on my heatsink, and the result
is the same for case temps ranging from 18C to 32C.

On my non-dlx A7N8X 2.0 Q-Fan takes the temp reading at the CPU socket
and only kicks in if that temp hits 50C (or more). Since most AMDs s462
are rated @ 85C max die temp and the older chips don't have the diode I
guess ASUS figured this would be the best place to read the temp for
Q-Fan.

Yes it works, you have to enable it in CMOS setup, but I use speedfan
instead, which provides more control over the temp setpoints and ramp
up/down speed of CPU fan.

I tried out speedfan and have become a fan (excuse the pun!). My fan now
runs mostly at 50%, hardly making a whisper, and ramps itself up nicely when
the temp goes up. Pity i couldn;t use it to control my case fans, coz i
think the fancy little pyramid i bought to thermally control them is
squealing when it is trying to output low voltages. A problem i have read
that is common to PMC fan controllers.

Get a 3-pin fan "Y" adapter and you could have 2 fans controlled by the
CPU header under SpeedFan. I think the headers on the A7N8X's are good
for 6.x watts... better look that up to be sure.... I had two fans
plugged into my CPU fan header. ;p
