Disk numbers under Windows xp

Started having problems with Windows XP professional two
weeks ago. I have an external drive disk, which was
usually given number 1 in disk management, and the
internal HDD ,which was usually gave number 0. But this
changed suddenly and the internal HDD was given the
higher number two weeks ago. This causes problems in
rebooting with Partition Magic and BootMagic,
particularly if the external drive is removed. Any ideas
on how to restore the original numbers? Thanks

I would undo whatever you did with Partition Magic/Boot Magic. Those
programs are probably what caused this in the first place.
