Multiple monitors detected in Windows XP

For some reason the device manager detects 4 monitors (3
default and 1 plug-and-play) when only 1 monitor (Sceptre
x9 g-KomodoII) is connected through the DVI port. I
updated the monitor driver from manufacturer's web site
and is detected by the device manager but still shows 4
are connected. I have deleted them in safe mode and they
still come back. I have also removed the video adapter
and deleted and reinstalled the drivers for the XFX
GeForce FX 5700 LE / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV
Out / Video Card.

I also have experienced after powering up the computer
the next day (after everything was at least working fine
the day before with the exception of the 4 monitors), the
device manager did not detect any monitors and lost all
video. I did get it back after booting in safe mode and
deleting and reinstalling the XFX drivers.

The other monitors are (sorta) place holders for all the various outputs on
your video card (i.e video outs and whatever).

That's normal, there's nothing that you need to fix (any attempted fix might
actually screw things up).
