Hi,

I just bought a Labtec headset, single earphone with mic. When I plug into
the front or back jacks, my mic works but the earphone doesnt. Ther earphone
works when plugged into the same hole as the speaker. I don't want to chose
between using speakers or headset!

Using XP and P4. Is there any way I can get those headset jacks to work? i
don't fancy buying a splitter for the speaker jack if I don't need one.
Thanks.

I have the same Quaam with modern technology!

unfortunately, when you use one of the sound out jacks on
your PC, it automatically disables the other!

Try getting a splitter, or even more fun yet, build a
switch that you can change between the two at the touch
of a button!

As so oftenm is the case, these 'banana' sockets cost the PC / MOBO builders
the tiniest amount of money. Their quality is very suspect.

All too often I have discovered PCs with faulty sockets [headphone,
microphone or speaker..makes no difference].

You could take the PC back to your supplier and try to get them to replace
it with one where all these items work, or take the easist path and buy a
splitter and plug it into a working speaker socket.
