Hi,

i'm thinking about buying the Asus S-Presso.. Does anyone have good/bad
experiences with it ?

Looks - almost - like the perfect HTPC. Only competitor - as I see it - is
the Aopen EA65-II.

Thoughts/Comments ?

Thanks,
jorgen

Someone wrote a S-Presso review in this newsgroup. Note that
no Firewire is built-in, and I did not recognize that the
single PCI slot was occupied by a PCI TV Tuner card. That means
your expansion options are limited.

If I was shopping for a HTPC, I would want one with a
Pentium-M processor (socket 479) in it. That processor draws
only 27 watts, compared to 89W for some Prescott processors.
Maybe soon we will see a product like that, now that motherboard
makers have recognized the potential of the Pentium-M.

(For example, Asus has made an adapter for S479 on a S478
motherboard, but it requires BIOS support code and a custom
cooling solution. When more motherboards are made with S479
built-in, the user experience will be much smoother.)

I'm sure there will be more of these hybrid chipset Pentium-M
solutions.

seems very impressive.. though Pentium M (Dothan) are very price in Denmark
(around 300 usd for the cheapest model)..This makes AMD a good choice, when
price and power is compared.

Though I have to admit the Aopen is one of the best HTPC m-atx boards i've
seen sofar..
