As lasers give the best quality and cheapest black and white text, and
ink jets give the best color, is there a way to have both hooked up, and
have the drivers and/or software automatically send the pages to the
appropriate printer. In other words, say you have a 100 page
manual/brochure/whatever, and 25 of the pages have color photographs but
the rest is black and white. Sure, you could say "print pages 1-4, then
6-9, etc. in black and white on the laser", then turn around and print
the color pages. But that's kind of a manual kludge; are there more
"automatic" solutions out there?
