Upgrading to Intel LGA775 but have narrowed down to ASUS P..

Hello, I'm running a AMD system w/Asus A7N8X Deluxe and Twinx Corsair
CMX512-3200LL x 3 (Total 1535 MB),ATI Radeon 9600 XT right now but
would like to try the Intel. I haven't had any problems with AMD
(except when rendering video- uses lots of rescourses). Basicly I want
a machine that can play games kick ass but also do multiple tasks at
once.

My friend was a devote AMD patron but got a Intel P4 550 3.4 GHz
LGA775 1MB 800 FSB with Abit mobo. He swears its more powerful than
the AMD64 he was using.

Anyway I use my machine for video rendering and games, games, GAMES!

I cant do PCI Express yet so I have to stay with AGP for now.

So I will be getting a Intel P4 540J 3.2E GHz LGA775 1MB 800 FB (HT)
(Prescott core) and have been looking at the ASUS P5P800

and would like some feedback from the group on the Intel idea and how
the ASUS P5P800 mobo has worked on your machine(s).

I recently converted to the P5P800 and had only one problem with the
board. The placement of the CPU at the top of the motherboard means
that a lot of cases will not work with the board. In my case there was
less than an inch between the heatsink and the power supply and my idle
temperatures were in the high 50s. Getting a new case with a couple of
inches of clearance and more fans lowered the temperatures to low 40s,
high 30s.
Even though the board has a 24 pin ATX connector you can use a regular
20 pin connector without any problems.

so you was in the AMD camp? How is your Intel measuring against AMD?
Also what's the difference from Asus P5P800 and P5P800S?
Which board is better?

P5P800S uses a single memory channel. P5P800 is dual channel.
You will get better memory subsystem performance with the
P5P800.
