windows cannot handle the modem

Hello Guys
i have a windows XP pro installed
on my home PC
once i lost the Modem driver
and i found that windows cannot access the modem
and the device manager don't see it
or mark it as a conflict device
anyway i tried many many times to reinstall
the modem driver from the manufacturer cd
but i did not worked with me
i tried to move the modem itself to
another PCI slot
but i got the same result which is windows don't see the modem
can anyone help me please

Well which is it? Does Windows not see the modem or has it marked it as
a conflicting device? If the device shows up, try removing it and
rebooting. Also, have you tried using the modem in another computer to
make sure it isn't dead. Finally, Windows does not detect it even from
the Modem Options in the Control Panel when you try to add a modem?
