It's ss2. The second encounter was an expansion I guess.

Yup, that's my bad. It's Serious Sam 2. In case you guys wanted to check out a couple of tech videos of the SS2 engine, you can check 'em out here.

I don't know, I'm not all that impressesed actually. When you first watch the big movie, you will be awed by the texture quality of the "football player". But when it actually cuts to "game" footage, it shows him and he doesn't look NEAR as detailed. So I'm thinking either that was somekind of pre rendered cutscene, or I don't know.

The scale is outrageous, but the textures definately seem eh.

Ok, don't waste your time on the last 2 vids. They are of the same thing. Just download the 118mb file.

Another fun, mindless shoot em up game is Painkiller.

I bought Serious Sam for 10 bucks a long time ago and never installed it. Is it worth the time now, or are the graphics outdated?

It's still worth it. Definitely. That game is the most fun mp game you can play as far as I'm concerned. A couple beers and you'll spend the whole night laughing your ass off.

You'll hear this faint sound of AHHHHHHHHHHHH for hours after you play.

You could give Max Payne 2 a try... I have it, but I have only played through the demo briefly before I got it... I am about 80% through the origional game, and I have a thing about playing the second game before completing the first one... every one who played DiabloII without spending a summer playing the origional Diablo ought to be shot... the same holds true for Baldur's Gate...

Well if you did PainKiller then you know about IronStorm, which I enjoyed, but the french seem to be ignorant of level saves, so when you need to do LVL4 correctly, you find that you actually have to restart back in the trenches of LvL 1, unless you kept 2 saves running concurrantly. I also found WarHammer40K:FireWarrior a real blast, But I am a fan of GWS miniatures back in the 80's and to see terminators, spacemarines, & choasmarines running around, I had to snag that title.
Then you come to my Favorite for over 2 years. BlackHawk Down & its exp pak TeamSabre. NovaLogic got thier act together when they made those titles, the MP is flat out awesome, 5k X 5k maps, are the standard and they dont have 'boundries', run far enuff and you enter on other side of map, and a reason not to camp is by gaining/maintaining control of PSPs (Progressive Spawn Points) to avoid spawn rapes, and even tho the maps on the Nova servers are varied, the Home-grown maps are down right original to the point where I play c0-Ops just to be WoWed out by the concepts. Nova also released JointOperations: Typhoon rising, 50K X 50K maps, hosts 150 ppl, but it can turn into a real slide-show combat cuz of the laggers like me :) Now if you got a screammer of a connection, give it a try, But BHD is the game for me
But if you want mindless spray & prays, stick with Sam lol

If I only knew a 1/4 of what I think I know

Oh yea, Serious Sam is great!!! I've only played the second encounter but it's exactly how I'd make a video game if I knew how. Lotsa cool guns, crazy bad guys all over the place, humor and good music to go with it.

I know their working on Serious Sam 2 (the second encounter was really like an expansion or something). I can't wait for it to actually come out.
