my windows 7 install was totally messed up when i tried to install osx86, but the data is still on the partition. i want to use a new windows 7 home premium DVD that i just bought, can i use it to upgrade my existing home premium to the new version, and and keep my existing data?

I think you want to try doing a repair install first.

You can do an upgrade and reuse your original activation key; no need to pay for a second license for the same PC.

No problem, you can try downloading codecs. There is one called CCCP or some other ones....
