Don't laugh PF!!!!! It's nothing like your mods!!!!!!!!!

I finally solved my dust problem with my case......This thing gets so full of dust that I heat up 10 C in about 2 months..... The front of the case has a washable filter.... The door fan didn't have a filter..... So I used stick on Velcro & made a square around the door fan.... A heating guy gave me a huge sheet of filter material & I cut some filters out of it.....

It works great so far.... I did it on the 19th last month & the filter already showing dust it's not letting in the case.... I'm still at 31 C temp. & it hasn't risen... We'll see how long it keeps the temp. now......

Could it have been placed inside to improve on aesthetics?

Reply to Tom_Smart

I don't see why not...... I hadn't thought of that..... I guess because the fan pulls air in....

On second though, You'd have to clean the dust off the grill in the door that way..... The holes would almost close, it would get so much dust on it without the filter.... It didn't look to good that way...... [shrug]

lol, heheh yeah i would either mount it on the inside like tom said, or maybe find you a fangrill off a fan and mount it on the outside, to improve the looks a little...

I've been meaning to do a mod forever now. I want to paint my case red, white, blue on one side and yellow and blue on the other.

I gotta take everything out of the case to replace my chipset fan so I might do it. Been stalling and stalling.

Reply to dhlucke

yeah ive been tentative and stalling as well, have been wanting to put a frosty window on the front of my case for awhile now, i have decent room where im at now, but ill have alot more to work with as im moving tomorrow, so i will most likely start into modding the case on fri-sat, maybe be done with it by next week. definitely some cool stuff i have been planning on doing.

Reply to mrface

sounds cool, you plan on going with a full American flag or just the colors? i might can get you in touch with some friends of mine who do great airbrushing, (although i havent really chatted with him for about 6 months now, and he might be deployed) but if you interested in maybe getting an airbrushed panel or so ill call to see what the hell he is up to, in fact hes a marine stationed in san diego, so hes right close by.

Reply to mrface

The thing is, my case doesn't have any front usb ports and I'm not sure if I want to invest a lot into it. It's still a good Antec case but it is dated and I can't get the airflow in it very good without a lot of noise so I just leave the side panel off. Stupid apt with no air-con.

Reply to dhlucke

i see i see;

its always a good thing if you want to try something small yourself, so if you ever want to do it again, youll have first hand experience, especially if you do get a newer case and want to mod it. 8)

I want my case to look like a case of Coors beer setting beside the desk.... [shrug]

Reply to RCPilot

you want it to look like a box of coors?

i might be interested in looking into stuff for ya if you want me to.

Reply to mrface

Hey sure....

I'm going to look at that link you gave as well.....

Reply to RCPilot

What are you talking about, you always have a case of Coors sitting beside your desk!

Reply to CHHunter

you could always try something like this

its a computer! in a whiskey bottle!

Reply to Flakes

That's Unbelievable.

And to think of the fun to be had in creating a new case / bottle.

Reply to russell

just thought of something from an old mod that could help the looks of the case(if your interested  )

take a pair of pantyhose and cut out a square that will fit the size of that case vent, now masure to peices of cardboard(preferably the thickness of shoebox cardboard) to the exact same dimensions of the pantyhose square. now make a trim that is the same hexagonal shape of your vent(big enough if you placed it on the vent you could see the complete vent and a very minute outline of you the edges of the ventcut out the middle of both cardboard peices and place the hose in the middle, staple/ glue/ adhere the pieces together with the hose in the middle.

cut the extralength of hose around the edges for cleanliness and the mount between you fan and the case(on the inside).

that should provide plenty of filtering for dust as well as you can get the dark gray hose and it would look nice(almost like it fits) to the case.

also i would consider dremeling out the inside of your vent away for better airflow.

the part in blue.

you would be amazed how much air blockage that causes.

then sand it down so there are no sharp edges and get some rubber tubing(very small guage) and apply it around the edge of the new hole. it will give it a more professional look, imo.

Reply to mrface

That's a place to start for sure.... I had thought of hose before.... I know that you can use a starch solution & actually form the hose like a filter..... But cutting off the grill would look even better.....

Puter could always run without the door on it for awhile......

LOL you didn't think much of my Coors heat sink then????? :P

Reply to RCPilot

lmao, not really  but hell if it gives you performance, go for it :)

Reply to mrface

LMAO!!!! That's what a few too many Coors beers can get you into..... [shrug]

Reply to RCPilot

speaking of, have you tried blue moon yet?

Reply to mrface

No, I haven't see it or heard about it.....
