Hp 5L and Microsoft Word

I am having a problem.

Existing set up. Was working well. No program or computer
changes of which I am aware.

Hp 5L prints test page and self test just fine.
Full page and multipage IE pages print fine.
Email prints fine.
WordPerfect pages work fine.

All work is being done with letter size paper. I think I have
checked all printer settings and Word settings for the printer.

When I tell MS Word / WordPad stuff to print, the usual green
lights flash back and forth longer than I would consider normal,
then give me a steady yellow light. When I push the bottom
button, it begins to print, but when they get to about 3/4 page,
the printer gives me vertical lines to the end of the page and
prints the rest of the document on a second page.

I have been through HP's troubleshooter and MS troubleshooter. I
have deleted and reinstalled printer. Any new ideas?

Check to see if the buffer format is in EMF or RAW spooling. If it is on
RAW, try it in the EMF mode. The RAW mode is used if DOS type software's
are to be used for printing. Windows applications function better if in the
EMF buffer mode.

You will find this buried in the properties of your printer driver. The
exact way to get to it is a bit different from one version of Windows to the
other. Once in the driver properties, you will find it. You can also enquire
to the Windows Help about this subject. They give a descent explanation for
this.

Kind of an old question, but thought I'd throw this answer out.

There is a limited amount of memory in the stock 5L.
If you are printing at the default 600x600, I dont think
it will make it through a full page. Knock the resolution to 300x300
and it will print fine.
