What is limiting factor with AMD XP 3000+ (Barton, 400MHz,
AXDA 3000DKV4E) and Asus A7V8X (revision 1.014)? Setting in BIOS
default 2100 MHz for processor's nominal with auto-settings makes
400 FSB and with hard-coded 10.5x clock-multiplier results always
to no boot.

Changed DDR's to Kingston 512 MB 400 MHZ (listed combatible) and
tried with only one DDR in all three banks, no success.
Works without flaws at 182/364, over that speed random problems,
tested with Memtest86.

Setting to 1400 MHz for prosessor and 200/400 FB works fine (and 210/420)
so memory should not be an issue. Clock-multiplier seems unclokable so
have to use 10.5x, otherwise 12.5x with 333 would be more than satisfactory.
Prosessor runs max at 60°C. PSU 350W Enermax, BIOS 1014 and 1015.003
(beta).

LMB's power regulator? Chipset overheating?

from what I see on Asus website is....no support of 400FSB..it is limited
to 333 . So you needed the 166 version of the CPU U have.

Thanks, that lack of 400FSB support might be the basic reason.
