I formerly used an A7V8X-SE with two 333MHz DDR, one 256MB and one 512MB.
This board has two memory slots, and there were no problems.

I now use an A7N8X-E deluxe with the same two chips. There are some
Memtest86 problems. This board has two blue memory slots and one black
one, and I am using the two blue ones. If this is the likely source of the
problem, what kind of config should I be using instead?

Is your memory of the same brand and speed? If not, then put one in the
blue and one in the black. The two blue slots mean you are going to run
your memory in dual channel mode. If the memory is not the same type/brand
the motherboard will be very picky and throw errors at you.
