TomTom is the cause here, GPS Drivers v2.08 and later block the BT Com Port
for the exclusive use of TomTom. This was done to reduce issues with
Bluetooth.

The good news is it's easily fixed, simple remove 'TomTom~GPS' and soft
reset. This removes the lock but still allows TomTom to function and also
allows other GPS enabled apps to access the Com Port. I do this with TTN3
and Memory-Map :)

I also had the same problem. I removed the 'TomTom~GPS' app from the
pocketpc (by going to setting/remove programs) and reset the machine. When I
try and access the GPS Status screen on Navigator I get an error saying
'Unable to launch GPS control panel'. I'm on version 3.03.

Is the GPS Status screen meant to be effected by uninstalling the
'TomTom~GPS' app ?

Thanks

It isn't affacted no, you may have uninstalled twive which removes the GPS
driver. Personally I use v2.07 which does not have nay of these issues on
my 2210, it's available on my website at

I'm delighted to announce that v3.03 resolves this issue, see the news post
on our site.

303 does not work for me either. What is controlling the com port the
gps output or the ppc application?

I can confirm that the uprgade 3.03 GPS driver makes no difference - TomTom
still holds the gps connection.

Neither, it is the PPC hardware. I would make this statement as the same
software and the same CF GPS in different manufacturers devices show up on
different comm ports. So in my experience it is neither the software or the
CF card that establishes the specific port, but rather the PPC hardware (or
firmware).
