Hi all.

Has anyone experienced problelms connecting a USB printer to a P5GD1-VM
board?

I've spent a frustrating 2 days trying to get my system to recognize a USB
printer successfully. I've tried several printers and none of them will
install.
The scanner on a Canon Pixma multifunction will work with no problems - but
the printer will not work... So the USB ports are working, but there is
always an error message saying the USB device has a problem and might not
work - along with a 'port not recognized message'
So far HP, Canon and Epson printers all behave in the same way.
On installing the printer drivers and then plugging in the printer (software
is always installed before attaching the printer), the sytem will find the
printer, then give me the USB error message.

I'm using Win XP Pro -SP2. Nothing complicated, on-board video, no PCI
cards, 450Watt Antec Power supply. Intel P4 3.2

I've installed all latest drivers (for the board and the printers)
I've un-installed everything I can think of a dozen times and re-installed
the printer driver without success.

I've tested all USB ports and they work OK. (the scanner works great and
my pen drive works in USB2 mode). I've changed USB config in the BIOS and am
now out of ideas.
Hoping someone can suggest something else!

Hi,
I recently got myself a P5GD1-VM computer and installed my Epson Stylus
C84 on it using a USB cable (10 feet at $4.99 cdn).
The printer has to be plugged in and powered up before starting Win XP.
Then I was asked if I had a printer installation disk. Put the disk in,
followed the instruction and up and running.
In fact my printer is connected to a P2 via the parallel cable and via
a USB câble to my P4 (win xp) computer.

My humble suggestion is to try to install after the printer is powered on.

In case anyone is interested... (yeah, right!)
The problem was SP2. Reverted back to Service pack 1 and now all is well.

So much for progress........

HI,
I'm running Win XP home edition sp2 on my p5gd1-vm computer. My printer
is connected via usb port1 w/o any problems. My printer is an Epson C84.
SP2 was installed where I bought my machine.
It's hard these days to tell what can go wrong with computers.
