As reported some months back, installing the latest nVidia nForce2
driver set (I say 'latest' but it's well ancient by now) made my nVMixer
equalizer go away - no presets available, and it wouldn't remember the
settings if you manually adjusted the equalizer bands.
I never did get to the bottom of why, but I finally fixed it by -
rolling back to previous driver set, then manually updating the Audio
drivers to 4.57 (one at a time) which comprehensively broke the prior
nVTray applet (precursor to nVMixer), and then re-installing the whole
5.10 unified driver package on top of the resulting mess.
At that point it all works. I can only assume that the 5.10 driver set
screwed up updating a previous installation if it was a really old
version (mine was '2.45 with point fixes' before it went to 5.10).
Right - now that's sorted it must be time to build an AMD64 x2 system. I
can't begin to imagine how many screw-ups you can perpetrate with two
cores and races/hazards to work with... 8>.
