Hi all

Looking for some advise with a head problem on my Epson 1290. If you look
at

http://www.spam-trapper2.pwp.bluey [...] on1290.jpg

On the black section one of the heads looks like it is missed aligned, can
this be fixed or have I got yet another Epson printer fit for the bin.

Thanks

Paul

Have you run the head alignment util that's part of the driver? Look under
Printing Preferences => Utility.

Thanks for the reply

I have run the head alignment utility a number of times, it has never made
any difference to this one head.

It seems that the problem is the second black nozzle from the end in the
first line of nozzle check. As you can see it misfire. Of course a less
problem to bother for. It will revived soon if you continue printing. For
the next printings, I suggest to print in higher resolution, the problem
will be hided, also this will solve the problem faster.

This problem (the one misaligned segment/nozzle) is referred to as a
deflected nozzle. It is caused by either build up of dried ink under
the head or a partially clogged nozzle, deflecting the ink, similar to
how water is deflected when you place your thumb over the end of a
garden hose.

The usual fix is to clean the underside of the head.

If you email me privately, I will provide you with a free copy of my
Epson Cleaning Manual which explains the process, and what cleaners to
use. I don't sell anything nor do I spam, so you needn't worry about that.

Could be a partially clogged nozzle. Remove the top from the printer, press
the yellow button to move the head over to the left and spray some windex
on the foam of the head capping station. Wick out the ink and repeat until
the foam is white. Then spray the foam to moisten well, but not dripping.
Press the yellow button to move the head back and then turn off the
printer. let sit for a couple hors or over night. Repeat until the pad no
longer becomes saturated with ink off the head. The try rerunning the
nozzle check.
