Flushed to 1023 and the system will hang during POST with "CPU overclocking
failed" message even if it was not overclocked (P4 3.2 G). Press F2 will
boot to Windows XP but the LAN will not work (the LAN option was set to
enable in the Bios). Flushed back to 1019 and everything is fine again.
Any idea? Thanks in advanced.

Which program did you use to flash to 1023? Afudos or Aflash?
I used Afudos and did have any problems.

Thanks. I inadvertently used an older version of AFUDOS and that was the
cause. Flushed again with the latest version and every thing is fine now.

Glad you figured out that I meant AFUDOS instead of AFLASH.

hey guys, I have been having issues trying to update the bios on my P4C800E Deluxe. Everytime I try to update using the windows based bios update program it hangs when trying to download the files from the asus website.

Can anyone link me to the best program to use/where to download and which is the best bios update to use.

Currently I have 1017 I believe.

P4C800E, P4 2.8Ghz Prescott, Antec True 550W, 2gb Kingston Hyper X, WD Raptor 74gb, 3x300gb maxtors, ati radeon 9800pro, creative mehh some kinda soundcard. Old system, but 3 years ago it was the shiznit!!!

Any suggestions on link to bios download/update program and the best bios to update to would be appreciated.

That's never worked for me, because the Asus servers are always busy or the program tries to connect to an non-existing server. So I don't even bother anymore.

The best thing you can do is to go to Asus' website, download the file to your computer and use the same windows program to flash the BIOS. One of the options in the program is to update the BIOS from a file in the PC, so that's the one you should use.

I am also running the 1023 version, and everynow and then I have the overclock failed message. I've noted that - in my case - this happens when I use the BIOS overclock utility with manual settings and then use the windows Asus oc utility with different settings. When I reboot, the settings that have been changed by Windows causes the BIOS to no longer be able to set the OC parameters, thus giving the Oc failure message.

ok cool, I will see if i can download the file and go from there. Is 1023 the best new bios to flash to or is there something more stable?

the 1023 is the latest. It's status is still BETA, but it is quite stable. Go with that.

werd, good lookin out, if you dont hear back from me I fried my motherboard trying to update using the lame asus update programs :)

just kidding although when I first bought this board I could update very easily with the windows aapplication that came with it and now I cant update for shizzle.

what happened to asus with this type of bios update, they suddenly bought the big one when it comes to that type of update for some reason or other.

btw, for the new dual core intels is asus still the best board in peoples opinion or is there someone better out there?

You're not gonna burn the Mobo! Trust me!

Well, I guess Asus is still THE MOTHEBOARD.

There are many worthy competitors, such as DFI and Abit. They are worth checking out.

The problem with Asus is that their online support sucks big time. They interrupt development of BIOS' when the last release is still beta (such as the 1023). They are also starting to overprice their products, because the market has recognized they have great products.

On the desktop and game machines, I am a loyal Asus customer. However, on the workstation and server, there are many other better manufacturers out there, such as Supermicro.
