Hi
I just bought a new BFG OC nVidia 6800 (non-ultra or gt) and was
wondering if a better cpu and motherboard would get me better gaming
performance. And (if you could tell me) how much percentage I would gain.

Thanks B@ZOOKA
--------------------------------------------System--------------------------------------------
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4ghz @ 2394mhz with 533mhz FSB
Motherboard: Whatever came with my Dell 4600
Memory: 1024mb of PC2700 @ 333mhz
Powersupply: Antec Truepower 550w
Sound card: Creative labs Soundblaster audigy 2 ZS
---------------------------------------------End-----------------------------------------------
P.S. Heres how much FPS I get on the Farcry Research level @ 1024x768 with
all settings maxed with no aa or af:
!TimeDemo Run 1 Finished.
Play Time: 21.39s, Average FPS: 70.69
Min FPS: 46.92 at frame 475, Max FPS: 98.72 at frame 752
Average Tri/Sec: 3233029, Tri/Frame: 45734
Recorded/Played Tris ratio: 0.93

Thanks for all of the information, that was a great post :)
I'll try and find out what motherboard and chipset I got and post it. I can
tell you right now that my comp does NOT have Hyperthreading. Thanks again!

A couple of technical notes. First off, there are a few upgrades you
could do to make your system better, but here is my suggestion. Your
4600 comes with the Intel i865 chipset which is an awesome chipset.
Keep what you have and save the money. Your FPS is well above 30, which
is the only thing that matters. 30 FPS is live mode and anything over
that is simply useless as you can't see more than 30 FPS.

Anyways, HyperThreading only works on applications or games that utilize
it. So don't worry too much about that. Your processor could be
upgraded to a faster speed including the Prescott (478 Pin) CPU's (which
I would not suggest right now).

The most important factor in your gaming is the video card which yours
can easily handle. What you have should be fine for a while. At least
wait until PCI Express has fully taken over everything before upgrading
again :)
