Accessing 'My Documents' on an old drive

Dear All,

I would be most grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for this problem.

I have just had a new hard drive installed on my system (old one faulty) and
have had Windows XP installed on the new drive. I have the old drive setup
as a slave and now wish to access the files on that drive to copy over to
the new drive. The files are located in the 'My Documents' folder and
whenever I try to access the folder an error stating that access is denied.
I know the data is still there as I can access everything else in the
'Documents and Settings' folder and 'Program Files' I just can't to the
required files.

I am guessing that it probably has something to do with the logon used to
create and access the data.

Are there any ways of accessing that folder without having to resort to
pulling it out and changing it back to the primary drive?

Thanks in advance,

Grant

Hi:

Also try to use mouse point the folder, right click, and properties, and see
the security tab, if only "System" is there. If so, add a user account
(e.g. Administrator, if you are logged in as this name), and give it full
right to access the folder.

Good luck.
