I have two CD-RW drives that are secondary primary and
secondary slave on my second IDE channel. Both have
worked fine for years. Now, all of a sudden, neither
drive appears in "My Computer." They are listed on the
start-up screen when the computer boots, and they have
power (doors open and close).
In device manager, both devices have the yellow (!) that
says there is a driver problem. I have uninstalled and
installed, searched for new drivers (none found), etc.,
to no avail.

When I see this it usually means one of the drives is
dying. In later stages they will both fail to detect on
boot-up (BIOS/CMOS).
Disconnect one of them, set the other to master and use
the end connector on the ATA cable. One will probably
work fine, and the other may or may not work when tried
(frustrating, isn't it?)
