I was afraid that thread was done or dead and need some
answers to my questions (please). I have a OEM install of
windows XP (home) and do not have the installation CD. I
need the installation CD to repair windows after I replace
my old 133 fsb mobo with a faster one.
I registered my version of windows XP soon after
purchasing the PC. I have the 25 digit product key on the
side of my HP case. I heard the Microsoft will provide the
Installation CD to purchasers of OEM systems for a fee. Is
this true? Where can I order this CD?

Please note; This post is more concerned with the
availability of this CD and acquiring it than about the
logistics of repairing my version of XP after installing
the new mobo. But, if you have good links.... :-)

An HP provided OS will not work with any mobo except an HP
mobo with an HP BIOS. The product key on the case is for HP
OEM, your option is to buy a retail or OEM Microsoft XP Home
from a dealer such as NewEgg www.newegg.com
