Hi all,

upgraded Mobo and Power supply. ASUS 7N8X includes AC97
on-board sound and on board LAN. BIOS reports both
present during boot-up but Win XP SP2 does not detect
them. Search for new hardware doesn't help, and if I
just load the drivers, I get a Device Not Present or
Device Not Started report in Device Manager.

So i disabled the on-board LAN and plugged in a PCI Lan
card. Win XP found that (Realtek) and loaded drivers,
then placed it as a "hidden device" in Device Manager.
So if I try to set up my Wireless network off the LAN
port using Netwrok wizard it doesn't use the lAN card but
tries to use the 1394 (for my digicam)!

AGGGHHHHHHHH!!

Plug n what?!

Hugh

Did you install the motherboard drivers? On the change of motherboard, did
you do a Repair Installation?

Yes Cari, tried repair, didn't like it so did a full re-
install and re-validation with MS.
