Hello there, My Samsung Combo drive is having a problem.
It can not determaning the kind of CD/DVD I insert into
the drive. This causes the CD not to auto play, and I
can't record on CD-Rs or CD-RWs. I don't know if it's a
drive failure or not due to the simple fact that I can
still access DVD's and CD's on it.

I have already done some of the steps that have been
outlined in various posts here to no avail. The only
thing I haven't tried is to swap out the drive into
another computer.

If anyone has anything else I can do please let me know.

I have since then via the Device Manager removed the Combo
player and let Windows reinstall it. I now says Illegal
function when I put in a CD-R.
