SiS doesn't have tech support, is there a user forum dedicated to SiS video
hardware?
I have found that it is a disadvantage to own hardware from a company that
doesn't provide tech suppport. I have to depend on the OEM (in this case,
Asus) to provide tech support. Actually, it is a Compaq PC, so in theory I
should get help from HP, but their tech support are incompetent and doesn't
care -- after hearing my problem they would make suggestions that they have
not tested. I know because their suggestions don't work, and the problem is
easily reproducible.
If I was running SiS and I'm trying to be cheap, I would create a user
forum and put the drivers (or part of it) in open source so that users can
support each others.
Fortunately, the problem I was experiencing was solved with some help from
usenet and some experimentation. Now I have the video hardware setup exactly
the way I want.
