K8N-E dlx and Gigabit ethernet

Any one know if the network port on the K8N-E will run at 1000baseT speeds?
I just bought a Zonet 5port gigabit switch and the best I can do is
100baseT.
Was using cat5 cables and changed to cat6 but that didn't help.
Wondering if I'm going to have to buy some zonet gigabit adaptors to go
with the
switch. Or is there some setting in XP or something else I need to check.
If it matters the gigbit switch is connected to a netgear router which runs
at 100baseT.

For a short distance the cable shouldn't matter for setting the link
speed. It may make a difference on bit error rates.

First thing to check is the settings of the port. Since I don't know
whether you have the desktop set up as XP or classic, bear with me if I
seem to take the long route to get there. First, open the control
panel. Double click on Network Connections. Right click on your active
Local Area Connection and select properties. Click on the Configure
button at the top, next to the Connect using device. Go to the advanced
tab. There should be a poperty for Link Speed and/or Duplex. Click on
Link Speed and make sure it is set to auto. If there is a separate box
for duplex, make sure it is also set to auto. Click OK. Now right
click on the Local Area Connection icon in the Network Connections
window and select Disable. Wait for it to disable, then right click and
select enable. Wait for it to enable. Right click again and select
status. The Speed should be 1000Mb or 1Gb.

If not, we'll try something else.

The link between the switch and the router will be 100Mb and any traffic
through that router will be limited to a maximum of that speed.

Thanks for your help.

Now windows reports the speed as 1Gb, but the lights on the switch reports
the speed
as 100baseT . This is the same on both computers I'm trying to get working.
Oh and my deskto is setup as XP.

If Windows is says it is 1Gb, then it has auto-negotiated to 1Gb. I
don't have a Zonet 5-port gigabit switch and they don't appear to have a
copy of the manual online, so I am afraid I can't help you there. Best
I can suggest is that you ask Zonet directly about how to tell that the
link is 1Gb/100Mb/10Mb (zonet_tech@zonetusa.com)
