Well I went out and bought Doom3 this afternoon. Unfortunately I think I may have picked up the one box with a defective CD. The game does it's autorun thing, and installs fine.
Then when I go to start the game it won't run. I tried installing it on all four of my computers, all have a problem with disk 1, even though it read the disk fine.
Two computers say can't locate disk one. The other two say Problem with Disc one, CD/DVD emulation enabled on the drive.
Went through activisions tech site, which was pretty unhelpful, but went through there troubleshooting, however nothing helped.
Anyone have similar problems? I am going to try exchanging the game in the morning.

I had the same error message last night when I ran Doom 3 for the first time. To fix it I unistalled CloneCd and Daemon Tools. I know CloneCd has to be taken off to make it work but im not 100% sure about Daemon Tools. It sucks that Doom 3 checks for this and now I need to figure out a way to emulate cds with something else.
If the above fix doesn't work, you may have other cd/dvd emulation software on your machine which will also need to be removed.
No I am not using a pirated version. I did purchase the game from BestBuy. However the game fails to run on all 4 of my machines. This is why I have to have a crack to play the game at all.
I called tech support, and they told me a fix is in the works and to keep checking the web site for a patch. What a bunch of B.S., if I couldn't have found a crack for the game, I wouldn't even been able to play my new $55 dollar game. ID Software was the last company I expected to let me down, but they just did. And just for those at ID, I may not be able to play the game (I believe a problem with the copy protection), but I can copy it? (What kind of sense does this make?)
