A8N-SLI Deluxe New Chipset Fan!

My chipset fan died after a couple weeks, much like everybody else's.
I was using a coolermaster heatsink for the past 6 months without problem,
other than it blocked my harddrive, so I couldnt remove it easily.

Anyway, I had read that Asus was offering a replacement chipset fan, so I
called them, and they sent one out to me right away, no charge.
This new one is SO much better than the original. It looks much
better/cooler, feels better, but most importantly it is quiet.
It runs at 4600 rpms, and I can't hear it at all, unlike the sonic 8000 rpm
fan that asus originally used.
So, just to let you know, this fan IS real, and I highly recommend you call
Asus if you have one of the old ones.

4600? Asus PC Probe showes mine runnig between 5600 and 5850 most of
the time???? What is your chipsets temp? Mine is 36c/96c under
normal usage.

Yes, most places I read said they were getting around 5500 rpm.
I get 4680rpm up to about 4900rpm.
My place is fairly warm, and the "chipset" temp reported in Asus Probe is
36C-39C depending on use and temperature in my house. I don't know how
accurate that is, or if that temp is even the actual chipset. I use a
coolermaster centurion case.
Very bizarre. I wonder why it would be that much slower.

I just read atleast one other article where the guy's replacement fan was
running at just UNDER 5000 rpm.
So, I guess there is a small difference from one fan to the next. Or perhaps
the rpm gauges are not exactly accurate on these little fans.
Even on the original fans I've seen people post readings from 8000 rpm to
over 9000 rpm.

I got an email from Asus saying anything between 4000rpm and 5800rpm is
normal.
I didnt take a picture of my fan earlier, but this is what is looks like.

Yes, the new heatsink/fan is bigger than the old one, so it mounts at an
angle.

You say Asus Probe reports a "chipset temp" in your A8N-SLI?

The one in that picture looks like it mounts flat. I didn't see an
angle to it.

Yes, it mounts flat, but it's 45 degree angle compared to the original
heatsink.
