I had a refill kit for an old Cannon printer lying around for the
BC-03 (Black) cartridge. It works fine with my Cannon i250 printer in
BCI-24 cartridges. There was no need to disassemble or modify the
cartridge: I just turn the cartridge over and drip the ink in, until
it runs out the other end.

This is less successful with the colour BC-05 ink in the new BCI-24
cartridge. The problem is trying to drip the ink into each of the
three colour tanks without cross contamination. I now have
multicolored fingers and green, rather than yellow in one tank. ;-)
