Dear Group,
I'm having a problem with a usb cdrw . The Phillips CDRW ran fine under
Win98. I try to install it on WinXP and the Freecom usb cable installs fine
and I have an Icon for the drive, but XP always installs the system drivers
(CD.sys and redbook), then lists it as a cd rom . I've tried using the
hardware wizard to get the drivers to install, tried removing the Highmat
burning extention on Media player. I tried to burn and the cdr burn light
will come on for two seconds. then stop and the burning software will freeze
up. I tried unplugging it and re-plugging it. I loose the icon in my
computer when i remove the system drivers! The drivers that came with it are
IO.sys, and Vmm32.
By the way, I've tried to burn using MP3 Converter and Burn4 free software,
and the Win media player converter and burner. Also, other USB2 (printer and
DSL connection) work on the system.
I would greatly appreciate any help!
