A friend and I are both having problems with a mouse
pointer that wanders off all by itself. No human
intervention needed. The o/s's are XP-Pro and W2000.

This happens with either cheap optical mice or bad drivers. Usually it
is the cause of the drivers which you may want to check and see if there
is a newer version available. If not, try uninstalling and reinstalling
the drivers.

Try disabling "Mouse","Pointer Options", "Enhance Pointer Precision"
