I recently updated my Motorola SM56 V.90 voice, data, fax
modem driver to version 6.02 which was released in mid
2003. Some website posters indicated that downloading and
using this driver converted their V90 modem to a fully
functioning V92. My modem connects to the net just after
updating to this driver but I haven't noticed that I am
receiving any V92 functionality even though my ISP
supports this protocol.

Anyway, I get a message on start up now every time that
says: "Cannot recognize SM56 modem driver". I just close
this and things work fine but how do I stop this from
poping up or how to I get Windows to recognize the new
driver ? It would be a shame to have to roll back to my
old driver which works fine but is a 1999 release.

If the old driver worked and the new one is causing problems, why not roll
back? Just because it's newer doesn't mean it's better. What v92 function
were you hoping to get?
