I have this old AthlonXP 1800+ palomino core in my system
I would like to get a new cpu that runs at least 2000mhz (instead of 1533)
like a mobile XP 2500+
Can somebody point me to acceptable CPU for my AthlonXP without mods
Mods:
Can a MOD the jumpers of a different CPU to unlock the multiplier and get
something like 16X for my 133 system bus like an AhlonXP 2800+ with a
multiplier unlock and get it to run close to it's rated core speed?
Is the Mobile Semptron a socket A processor?
My goal is to make a moderate upgrade on my system.
I am not looking for a motherboard upgrade, next major upgrade will be with
a 64

The best CPU for overclocking on your board is the
Athlon XP-M(mobile) Barton core(266mhz)CPU
Mobile CPUs come unlocked, but do cost more.

Tod!
Tank you for the information!
I went to AMD.com and I looked at the model number identifier description
and I found a mail order store that had a 2500+@266.
It should be much faster tyhan my old 1800+
I do not plan on overclocking it... anyways not much ;-)
It is my fourth time that I upgrade a computer with a Mobile processor or
something like it
I did upgrade my 40486-66 to an AMD 5x86-133@160
I upgraded my P150 to a IDT Winchip2 240@240 ... it was never stable at 266
:-( even with a Peltier cooler
I upgraded my K6-2 450 to a K6-3+ 450@613
