Hi group,
I have a windows XP Home running on Toshiba Tecra
laptop, and after updating and installing Service Pack 2,
CD-R not recording any more. I have no problem in
reading, but recording is not working. I tried re-install
the driver (TEAC DW-224E), and tried to use different
CDs, but that didn't solve the problem... any help?

Two thoughts. First, update the chipset (motherboard) drivers. These
can be obtained from Toshiba's support site by looking up your computer
model. Second, you may want to try the suggestions here:

Here is what Microsoft has to say about CDR/W drives and SP2---

SYMPTOMS
Your CD-RW drive is not recognized as a rewritable drive by some software
programs in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or in Windows XP Tablet
PC Edition 2005.

Note Your CD-RW drive may function correctly in the software program as a
CD-R or as a CD-ROM drive.
