Starting ink flow in HP 17 cartridge after refill

I took the filling syringe, put a rubber o-ring on the tip for a gasket,
and blew some air into the filling holes until the ink ran out the
bottom without bubbles.

It worked, but a red colour prints brown now for some reason.
