Just wanted to share a positive experience with a K7S5A Rev 1 mainboard. I
purchased it when it came out due to the high praise it received in so many
reviews. It has seen 3 CPUs, 2 video cards, and 3 RAM upgrades and a USB
2.0/1394 PCI card. Of all the mainboards I have used over the years it is
the one that has outlasted all others. I currently rely on AOpen mainboards
these days.
The current K7S5A Rev. 1 with a Honey X BIOS is:
Athlon XP 1700+
KingMax PC3200 256MB (X2)
Maxtor 40GB
TEAC CD-RW
Artec CD
NEC Floppy
AOpen GeForce MX 440 64MB
Hercules Gamesurround Muse XL Audio
2 Fan Controllers for 5 Antec case fans and the CPU fan
Antec windowed case.
Generic 500-watt PSU
I too have had to reset the BIOS after some cool starts (it's been 9 months
since the last time) but it hasn't been that often. I don't OC, not that I
could have much with this board anyway. My 13 year old daughter is now the
user of it and it is doing everything she wants it to do and doing it well.
The K7S5A has been one great board. That's my statement and I am sticking
to it.
