I have the subject motherboard with a Palomino Core 1600+ CPU. 2x256 MB
memory as DIMMs. 40GB HDD, DVD/CD, generic PCI sound card and Abit
Siluro 440MX 64 MB video. Mouse and keyboard on PS/2 ports. 350W power
supply, with the case so not a "known" brand.
Case cooling 1x intake and 2x exhaust.
System will occasionally freeze while gaming (World of Warcraft).
System free of virus and spyware and Norton Systemworks used to maintain
registry and other system files. Latest and legacy drivers tried with
no particular positive effect on stability.
Any history of this model freezing or am I looking at the power supply
as the first item? As a side note, the system seems to only freeze with
World of Warcraft, but, I still post this question to rule out a
hardware issue I might not know about.

any history of freezing ?
short answer yes
longer answer this mobo has had a rocky history of love it, hate it with
quality control issues.
I have two k7s5a systems, one was great the other problems {bad CAPS, USB
power level freezes, memory problems, etc}
are you running any system monitor software such as "Motherboard Monitor" to
monitor voltages and temps
how are your mobo vitals ?
if you google the ecs/elitegroup news group for " k7s5a freeze lock hang"
(<-- you know) you should get some good hits back into early 2000's and
back when the board came out..... lots of good hints advice etc then
now alot of people just say " trash that old board and upgrade to something
current"
