Wow this computer takes about 10 mins to boot then all is
so slow...I checked system resources and processor hits
the roof just when I move the mouse. Do you think its bad?

I have installed XP on less powerful units. Booting should be less than 5
minutes. The 1.3MHz isn't going to give you great results for other than
Word, excel or Browsing the web: games might be very slow.

Check all your BIOS settings to see if they are correct for the CPU, Memory
and hardware.

Also check in Device Manager to see if any items have a yellow exclamation
mark [this generally indicates an error with drivers].

1.3 MHz is pretty slow :p

Anyways, I have a 733 MHz CPU that loads XP Pro in less than 2 minutes.
You may need to do a little cleaning up of things and do follow the
suggestions of BAR dealing with the BIOS ;)

Hi,

I use a PIII 500MHz cooper-mine with 256MB PC133, XP Pro boot up in 90
seconds with SP1 but now need 150 seconds with SP2 (40 running processes in
startup)

A lot of your problems are probably due to the fact that you only have
128 mb of RAM.

With a 1.3 ghz CPU I recommend at least 384 mb of RAM in order to get
an acceptable level of performance.

You can also do some tuning up of your startup programs and services,
but upgrading the RAM would be the #1 priority.

As a comparison, my system with a 1.7 ghz Celeron boots in less than a
minute. It has 512 mb of RAM.

Good luck

Windows XP will run on 128 meg memory but slow-I would recomend installing at
least another 128 meg. I tested XP Home on a AMD K6-2 400 and 196 meg of
memory and it ran pretty fast. The sweet point for Windows XP is 512
meg-sweet point is where there is no descernable dfferancein performance.
