I have the 8rda+ v2.0 with spdif daughter card. I also have the Yamaha
TSS-10 5.1 speakers, However I cannot get optical digital to work.
Someone recommended setting the Windows XP mixer to digital out but I
see no check box to enable it. Any suggestions please.

To answer my own question and others whom may be interested. If you
plan on using the optical digital out spdif daughter card on a v2.0
8rda+ board...don't!  Its doesn't work  Known issue.  
 
In the last year and a half I've installed and uninstalled
approximately eight different 8rda+ boards in two cases. If its not
bad capacitors or power up problems, its memory C1 or IDE controller
problems . This last episode with the spdif was the final straw. I'll
never touch an Epox board again!

My 8rda3+
Spdif works fine along with 3 others i've set up.
Bad caps hit all motherboard makers, had a gigabyte,asus,and abit bord bite
it from bulging caps and one epox 8kta3+.
Good luck with others I've had the best luck and least returns with epox
tho.

Who said anything about the 8rda3+? Its the 8rda+ version 2.0 that is
a known problem.  Its a big deal if you've just forked out $400 bucks
for a set of digital speakers.

Okay! Aside from the bulging caps (which  I never personally
experienced till the 8rda+), I've never had the power up, memory, or
IDE controller problems with an Abit or Giga-byte board. As a systems
builder over the last ten years I've probably assembled 1000 units and
have had only a few of these boards go bad. But in the last year and a
half I've installed and uninstalled approximately eight different
8rda+ boards in the same two cases. That's just too many!  
 
Epox has lost my vote!

I have a GA+ which is the same as yours but with on-board graphics. The only  
problem I had with SPDIF was that the board did not come with a connector and it  
was very difficult to obtain the official part. To get round that, I made a  
connector which was easy enough though I've only wired up the out part and not  
the in. It works great.

And herein lies the problem. The spdif is standard issue with other
mainboard manufacturers like Abit or Asus. Again Epox falls short  of
the mark. But I will leave it at that. My agenda is not to harass
Epox; but just to be read as a caution.

I agree, it is a pain. SPDIF is a standard connection for many now and is the  
easiest way of getting 5.1 surround. Actually the ONLY way on my Creative  
Soundworks speakers short of having an Creative sound card (which has a  
proprietory connector).
 
Still, I found the instructions on how to build it on the web and it was easy  
enough to follow.
 
It is a small problem and I really like the rest of the board, SO much better  
than my previous board from ABIT.
