I need some one who is good - my umax scanner wont work

ive got win xp ,- proff... , and ive installed my umax astraslim scanner with
the driver cd given and followed the instructions but once restarted my pc ,
when click scan or any other method of scanning it throws up an error;

cant opporate

1. make sure scanner is connected properly
2.make sure scanners led is on
3 note ; you cannot connect scanner to the bus power device



and then followed by another error

TWAIN ERROR :

FAILED TO OPEN TWAIN DRIVER

AND IM GETTTIN ANNOYED

Is the scanner USB or Parallel??
