According to Epox website your board supports up to 3GB ram.

I want 400mhz ram - 2 GB only with this chipset. However as far as I'm aware
1gb sticks only come in double-sided, and I'm pretty sure this is not
supported by the chipset either... so why are all the MB manufacturers even
saying yo can use 2GB. Sure you can physically put 2GB of ram in the
computer but will it work? Dont think so...

The manual for the 8KDA3+ states that, for best performance, if you have 2
sticks of RAM, one must be single sided and the other must be double sided.
I'm no expert, but that sounds strange to me.

Hi, Blackwood - and Getho.

My 8KDA3+ just arrived yesterday, along with the Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. But
I'm still using the 512 MB PC2700 DIMM that I just bought for my former
mobo, the 8K3A+. The new DIMM works fine in the 8KDA3+, but only at the 333
MHz speed, of course. System Properties says the CPU is running at 2.21
GHz.

The "8KDA Series User's Manual" says, on page 3-7, that it supports up to 3
GB of 266/333 MHz DDR SDRAM, or up to 2 GB of 400 MHz, with the not that
"For DDR400, only up to two slots are guaranteed." But there is a
"Supplemental" page included, correcting page 3-7. This says, "Supports up
to 3.0 GB of 266/333/400MHz DDR SDRAM." It tells how to mix/match SS/DS
(Single Side/Double Side) DIMMS if mounting 1, 2 or 3 DIMMs. The final
line: "Use SS DIMM on all 3 three slots for DDR400 speed." The PDF version
of this page is at

There was a supplimental page issued for the user manual... you can view it
here:

I appears there is no problem with DS vs SS memory.
