XP stops detecting Zip drive mid-session

Hi. XP allows me to read and write to my Iomega 250 internal zip drive just
fine when computer is first booted up. After about an hour it no longer
"sees" it. Usually I can get it functioning again by going to Add New
Hardware, clicking that it is already installed and then locating it in the
list. Any ideas about what is going on? (I use the zip to backup all my
documents so use it very frequently - but this is a huge waste of time for
me.)
