Microsoft Word Freezing Problem

I have an XP machine which I use a S3 Trio 2D/3X 2MB graphics card.
The reason I use this graphics card is I have a dos progam at work
which only works with older cards.
Everythings works fine with this graphics card except microsoft word,
after opening word either directly or through a document, it opens for
a second and then the whole computer freezes and I have to push the
reset button.
Other office programs work fine. I currently have word 2003 but I
tried installing word 2000 but it behaved exactly the same.

If anyone know a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.
